Verify Aadhaar Number Online | Check Aadhaar Validity & Authenticity

Why You Should Verify Aadhaar

Verifying an Aadhaar number ensures that it is genuine, valid, and active in UIDAI’s central database.
This service is useful for:

  • Residents confirming their own Aadhaar validity
  • Employers or landlords verifying identity proof
  • Banks or service providers checking KYC compliance
  • Family members confirming reactivation or deactivation status

The UIDAI’s “Verify Aadhaar Number” service does not reveal personal data — it simply confirms whether the Aadhaar exists and is active.

Note (महत्वपूर्ण): Verification is always free and safe when done through the official UIDAI portal or the mAadhaar app.

1️⃣ Through UIDAI Website (Official & Most Reliable)

  1. Visit https://uidai.gov.in
  2. Go to My Aadhaar → Aadhaar Services → Verify Aadhaar Number
  3. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number
  4. Fill in the captcha and click Verify
  5. System shows: Valid/Active or Invalid/Deactivated

If valid, you’ll see limited details (Age Band, Gender, State of Issue).

2️⃣ Via mAadhaar Mobile App (मोबाइल एप से जांचें)

  1. Download mAadhaar from Google Play or Apple App Store.
  2. Open → Aadhaar Services → Verify Aadhaar Number.
  3. Enter Aadhaar number and captcha to verify.
  4. View your Authentication History for tracking.

???? Tip: Lock your biometrics in mAadhaar when not required.

3️⃣ Offline Method: QR Code Verification (क्यूआर कोड से जांचें)

  1. Each Aadhaar letter/e-Aadhaar PDF includes a secure QR code.
  2. Open mAadhaar or a UIDAI-approved QR scanner.
  3. Scan the QR and match displayed details with your document.

Works offline, confirms authenticity, prevents use of tampered cards.

4️⃣ Helpline & Support Verification (Call 1947)

  1. Call 1947 (UIDAI toll-free).
  2. Select “Aadhaar Verification” or talk to an agent.
  3. They can guide you if the number appears invalid or if the site/app is down.

⚠️ Common Problems & Solutions (आम समस्याएँ और समाधान)

1️⃣ Aadhaar Shows as Invalid or Deactivated

Possible causes:

  • Not updated for 10+ years (inactive policy)
  • Wrongly marked as deceased
  • Duplicate or data quality issues

Fix:

  • Open myAadhaar → Document Update
  • Update documents or submit a reactivation request
  • If wrongly deactivated (e.g., false death record), follow reactivation steps below

2️⃣ Reactivating Wrongly Deactivated Aadhaar

UIDAI issued a circular in July 2025 describing the reactivation procedure.

Steps:

  • Visit your nearest Regional UIDAI Office
  • Submit a written request with valid ID proofs
  • Complete biometric verification under supervision
  • UIDAI reviews and restores within ~30 days
  • Track progress via the myAadhaar Status page

4️⃣ Verification Shows Wrong Details (age band or state)

These mismatches usually come from outdated records.

Solution: Update your Aadhaar online or visit a Seva Kendra for biometric refresh.

Pro Tips

  • Prefer official UIDAI verification tool over third-party “validators.”
  • Always cross-check QR code for physical Aadhaar authenticity.
  • Lock biometrics when not using Aadhaar for verification.
  • Use mAadhaar Authentication History monthly to spot unusual activity.
  • Update your Aadhaar every 10 years — prevents automatic deactivation.
  • Store your e-Aadhaar safely in DigiLocker or encrypted folder.
